Teachers everyday work their hardest and put as much effort as they can to help us students succeed later on in our lives. It involves getting up extremely early, attending many meetings, staying after school to hold tutorials and most importantly teaching the class. Of course, there are also many other routine things that could be added to this list.

Eventually over time, teachers can earn rewards for all their hard work just like us students can. One teacher made an impact at TCHS this school year and is recognized for his level of teaching and guiding students to a great future. History teacher Mr.Woody has been presented with the 2017 TCHS teacher of the year award. The teacher of the year nomination is voted by teachers. The teachers nominate an idividual, eventually from there it leads to the top five to choose from. The top five write essays, then the essays are handed over to be judged by another group of teachers. Once judged by the next group of teachers, the official decision is announced and Mr.Woody was chosen this year.

“I was completely taken by surprise, I have never entertained the possibility that I would be chosen” Mr.Woody said in an interview with me.

Mr Woody has been teaching here at TCHS for about nine years and has really been enjoying it by far.

“It’s been a really interesting time, I really can’t imagine being anywhere else ’cause this is such an amazing school, amazing students it’s been a great time.”

The administration has also helped push Mr. Woody to become more successful and offer help to support it and according to him, they have done a great job. However, he adds in that the students also play a part in this accomplishment.

“Additionally, it’s you guys because the students have really motivated me, and I think a lot of other teachers to really do our best and try to offer you guys the best educational experience.”

History in general is Mr. Woody’s passion. No matter if he is teaching a class or given a group of people, he would still be talking about history and economics to them. Mr. Woody is always proud to talk about history and geography.

“I feel lucky, I feel privileged.”

And what’s next for Mr Woody in his future you may ask? Will he continue to change the lives of many students, represent the school as a whole, and continue his passion of teaching History? The answer to that question is yes!

“Where I could see myself in the next 20 years is right here. I just want to stay in the classroom, I want to do exactly what I’m doing and do it better. That’s my goal!”
